the title of the collection/first track is from one of the letters written by heloise to abelard:
nothing is less in our power than the heart,
which is more apt to command us than to obey.
and so when the heart's passions rouse us,
no one can contain their sudden surge of pressure
and keep them then from having their effects.

I expected excellence from anything Craig Schenker associates himself with, but this has outstripped all... Schenker produces droneworks using mainly reeds- and Thayer's textured drones have a sonic life all their own....but these two work together in a way that is truly rare- from the expansive beauty of "cloud" ( which completely took me over by stealth...) to the two-minute symphony that is "stone" this collaboration produces material connected to the earth, while rising above it....ss/am editions vaché
